Newsroom A Grateful Journey: Reflecting on Gradex 2023 Honours Art ExhibitionNovember 19, 2023Gradex 2023 Honours Art Exhibition signifies the culmination of four years of hard work and creative exploration. I express deep gratitude to my lecturers for their guidance, which has shaped my artistic vision. Thanks to the unwavering support of family and friends, this exhibition is not just about art; it’s a celebration of shared dreams and collaborative efforts that have defined my artistic narrative. As I thank my lecturers, friends, and family, I look forward to continued growth and future artistic adventures. Sasol New SignaturesSeptember 10, 2023Exciting news! My artwork, “33°57’15”S, 25°32’38”E,” has been chosen as one of the 100 finalists in the Sasol New Signatures art competition. I’m honored to exhibit at the Pretoria Art Museum in September 2023 alongside artists from across South Africa. Created in 2022 during my third year at university, the piece critiques the anthropocentric perspective on nature, depicting the Baakens Valley’s degradation due to neglected electrical pylons. This apocalyptic portrayal emphasizes the harsh reality of environmental decline and neglect. Grateful for this opportunity. Sale of my artwork Mycelial Algorithms: validation of my subject choiceAugust 20, 2023In my honours year, I explored the interconnectedness between humans and nature through my artwork, using the mycorrhizal network as a visual metaphor. This underground fungal network, connecting plant matter, symbolizes the parallels between nature, technology, and humans. The sale of my first artwork this year boosted my confidence in my research, and I’m grateful to the buyer for their support.
